Mocking Mother

And she laughs mercilessly,
As she is slapped before her,
If her daughter at the hands of a hound,
Would she too abhor her,
And let her be beaten,
Until her screams fade away,
Would she bear the same that,
She now enjoys each day,
What a pity she's a woman,
But couldn't reach her son to respect another,
What a pity to her teachings,
What a pity to her being a mother,
And she's not the only one,
She's just one of the many,
Who face discrimination themselves too,
But don't have sympathy for any,
Who are we to hold him responsible,
When she never held his hand,
And guided him not to disrespect women,
Never did she take a stand,
And that woman beaten today,
Before her very eyes,
Cries her soul out today,
As on a the cold floor, she lies,
But one day she too will let,
History repeat itself,
She too wouldn't stop her son,
Her daughter-in-law, she wouldn't help,
And it's a vicious circle,
That just goes on and on,
When you're not willing to take a step,
Don't hope for a miraculous new dawn.

Domestic violence is just one of the many issues faced by more than 50% of the world's women population around the globe. I don't even need to enlist all the atrocities. No matter what they are and in which part of the world women face them, nothing will change unless we change our mindsets and respect all women irrespective of our relationship with them.
Men are generally considered the only root cause of all the violence a woman may have to face, but the truth is everyone else that silently witnesses this and chooses not to say a word is equally guilty of it, be it another woman.
Change your mindset and the world will change itself.
